2022 Ford Expedition

We had the privilege of working with ROE PHOTO again, when they came to town to photograph the all new Ford Expedition. We were tasked to find them several rugged outdoor locations, coastal roads and urban modern building to serve as the backdrop for their new campaign. Here is a sampling of what ROE shot. They look amazing!

2021 Ford Bronco Sport Reveal

At the beginning of the year, we were hired to help find and secure locations for the new 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Reveal with Roe Photo, GTB and First on Set. We have worked with Roe for many years and know what he likes in a location… typically the rougher the better. We absolutely loved what he shot and look forward to working with him again soon!

Shelter in Place Inspiration - Bay Area Open Roads

“Straight roads are for fast cars, turns are for fast drivers” is a quote from famous Scottish rally driver, Colin McRae.

The Bay Area boasts some of the best roads for shooting car commercials and automotive print ads.  I love scouting for automotive campaigns and I love driving, so this week I am presenting some of our favorite open roads that we have scouted….  A subtle metaphor for our long road ahead.

Let us know how we can help you find the right road for your project!

Shelter in Place - Thinking of our Cafe, Bar and Restaurant Friends

We often rent out bars and restaurants for our commercial advertising clients who need this type of environment as a backdrop for their shoot.  During this COVID shelter in place, we are thinking of our restaurant and bar spaces/owners that have been open to our production projects.  We know that this is a hard time for everyone including our restaurant friends.  Here is just a small selection of the bars and restaurants that we have in our files and we’re hopeful to be working with again when we come out of this crisis.

Shelter in Place Inspiration - Home Offices

Because of our shelter in place mandate, so many of us are now working from home.  This week, our inspiration was to post some of our favorite home offices everyday with the intention of inspiring you.  Here is our full 5 day collection of home offices from our database.  When we come through to the other side of this COVID-19 crisis and we land our production feet back on the ground, let us know how we can help you.  Stay safe out there everyone!

Bose comes to the Bay Area

We had a great time on set with Sam Robinson and the Bose Team. Not only did we scout and provide locations for this campaign, but my family was also selected to be talent for the shoot. Sam was an amazing photographer to work with. He made it so easy to be on the 'other side' of the camera. It was something our family will never forget. Thanks for the memories Sam!

You can also check out their amazing new Portable Home Speaker HERE.

Birdman Sources New Office Spaces

Sourcing new offices for commercial shoots has proven to be difficult over the years.  Many offices don't allow 3rd party production in their space due to insurance, liability and in many cases from a lack of understanding.  We recently worked with a client who requested several Enterprise and SMB office spaces for a new global ad campaign and we were put to the test.  After reaching out to nearly 50 new office spaces, we are excited to say that we have successfully added 9 new beautiful, vetted, working offices to our database.    These spaces are located all over the Bay Area, so let us know when you're looking for an office for your next production!

Holiday Wishes from Birdman (and Levi's)

With the holiday's quickly upon us, we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.A fitting post for this holiday season... we are sharing a fantastic commercial for Levi's that we recently worked on with producer, Rena Fink and Director, Sandra Winther.  Shot in September, we provided locations to shoot multiple scenes of a family on a Holiday Getaway.  Complete with a mountain cabin, rolling hills, rustic roads (fire pit, disco ball and fake snow) we were tasked with providing the locations, maps, permits and location management for this large, client driven project. The end result was a 'shoppable' video that incorporates a newer experience, which allows the viewer to click on any of the products on screen to view and purchase that item. I have linked that shoppable video HERE if you'd like to check it out (Click on the 'Holiday Getaway' Video Link).Such an excellent crew to work with!

Birdman Works Out With Asics

We had the privilege of recently working on an Asics print campaign with Jen McKibben at Little Devil Productions out of Barcelona.  Their location list was long and diverse, but the San Francisco Bay Area provided a perfect backdrop for their needs.  The Asics team shot for 7 days straight, using locations from San Francisco, Oakland, Marin and Vallejo.  Here are just a few of the stunning shots from London based photographer, Paul Calver.  We look forward to working with this team and Asics again!

Sterling Vineyards

This past summer, we were contracted by Lindsay Heimer of NorthSix to scout and complete a full day light study of Sterling Vineyards for their new ad campaign which was to be shot by Norman Jean Roy.Their concept was a chic, modern spin on the glamorous fashion of the 60's, set to the backdrop of the architecturally stunning winery terrace and bell tower.I absolutely loved this concept and think that they did a great job fulfilling their inspiration.Oh, and by the way, if you haven't been to Sterling, I would highly recommend the experience! Here are a few of our scouting photos and final ads from this project...

Vogue Shoot with Patrick Demarchelier

Production: Patrick Demarchelier

Producer:  Jeanne Fleming

Client: Vogue

Location: Birdman Inc - Berkeley, CA

We recently worked with Patrick Demarchelier on a project that required locations with a closed set.  Although we knew that he was photographing olympic swimmers, Nathan Adrian and Matt Grevers and NBA All-Star, Stephen Curry, we had to keep a tight lid on this one.  They asked us to find them a swimming pool and gymnasium for an upcoming spread in Vogue magazine.  We just picked up the most recent issue to find the images inside!   It's always great to see the results of our work.

Birdman Rides With Indian

Client: Indian Motorcycles

Photographer: Dean Bradshaw

Producer: Kim Comeaux

Location: Northern CA

May 2015 we worked with the photographer Dean Bradshaw and producer Kim Comeaux on a project for Indian Motorcycles. Indian is the original American Motorcycle with roots dating back to 1897 and was a huge contender throughout the 1960's. The brand was resurrected in 2008 after being absent from the scene for decades and has been making a strong comeback. Owned by Polaris Industries since 2011, the new designs are fresh while honoring the brand's DNA. We turned a lot of heads while shooting these beautiful bikes on Northern California roads!Over 3 days we had 2 still crews and a video crew shooting the entire Indian lineup. We covered a lot of Northern California in a short period of time. On Day 1 we started before dawn with rolling traffic breaks over the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge before moving to the financial district in San Francisco. The second day had us breathing fresh air and looking up at giant redwood trees in Bag Basin State Park in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The final day was the most ambitious! While filming the bikes on Treasure Island in the morning with the San Francisco skyline backdrop, Mayor Ed Lee happened to stop by. He sat on a few bikes and expressed his gratitude for our client choosing SF for their shoot. Around mid-day we headed for the coast landing in Stinson Beach. The bikes were shot cruising along CA-1 as the sun dropped to the horizon. Colin Ducey at Ducey Productions provided his expert driving skills on the Camera Car with First AD Michael Jordan calling the shots. The team worked hard long days to capture some amazing riding shots of the beautiful motorcycles! We spent a week scouting and another 2 getting permits for rolling traffic breaks on the bridge, lane closures in SF, ITC on CA-1 and traffic control on the roads in a state park. We were also hired to manage the shoot and Jason fell into a second AD role to help orchestrate the long shot list. Have a look at the images featured on Indian's website along with our scouting images.
